MIXED MEDIA ON WOOD
I paint on wood panels with acrylic and house paint and a variety of mixed media: charcoal, graphite, pastels, watercolor crayons and miscellaneous papers that add interest and texture. Working on wood adds richness in that layers can be built up as well as removed by sanding and scraping into the surface.
Cradled wood panels are finished on the sides — either painted in a neutral color or varnished natural wood; flat wood panels are sold framed in a black, white or blonde floater frame.
